The Cadet Program

This program was created on July 25th, 1879 with the Army, Sea & Air Cadets. It is administered through the Canadian Armed Forced and funded by the Department of National Defence. It was designed to help develop good citizens, develop physical fitness, and sustain an interest in the Canadian Forces.  As of 2016 there are over 19,000 Army Cadets and 430 Army Cadet Units across Canada.

We provide additional weekend training in the form of training exercises.

We have day long training (ex: Range Days) or full weekend training (ex: Adventure Field Training Exercises).  These classes are designed of give hands on training for Cadets to advance in the  program.

At the end of the training year we host a Annual Ceremonial Review where a reviewing Officer (along with friends and family) can come see the progress of the Cadet Unit.  Awards and presentations are given to our top cadets as well as others for physically fitness, marksmanship, band and leadership.

The Summer Camp Programs

During the summer we do not offer any local camp programs or training.

Instead we offer the opportunity to train at one of the many Cadet Training Centers located across Canada.

The Band Program

We are very lucky to have our own pipes and drums band with a set of instructors dedicated strictly to the improvement of each cadets musical talents. No experience  or band equipment is required to join.  The band practices twice a week (Sundays and Tuesdays) and are often called to play at local functions (ex: Canada Day Parade, Robbie Burns Night, Remembrance Day Service).

If you play other instruments in your school band, you have the opportunity to acquire music levels at the provincial musicon camps and level testing. We also offer musician courses during summer camp that will earn you badges for your uniform.

The Marksmanship Program

We start with the mandatory marksmanship lessons learning safety, proper handling, care and maintenance of the rifles. We then provide hands on training with a qualified instructor that will coach proper technique. Everyone has equal opportunity to tryout for the range team; it is not based on age, gender or even a returning team member.

We accept the top shooters to the team where they will be issued their own rifle, sling, jacket & mitt. The team will complete at the Stage II (Regional) competition where we compete against other army, sea & air units in southern Saskatchewan. The cadets compete both as a team and individuals and only the top 3 teams will continue onto the next stage.

If successful, they will progress through the stages to the National Marksmanship Competition. This journey takes a lot of dedication and hard work to develop the skill and discipline required, but with practice at our local Range Days everyone can improve.
